Description of the system

The Andor Kymera 328i spectrometer is used for optical emission spectrometry to analyze radiation sources such as plasmas or flames. The Kymera 328i has a quadruple grating turret and software-controlled grating selection, enabling different degrees of dispersion and spectral resolutions to be achieved. Two radiation inlets can be realized via a direct and side input. Furthermore, the two different CCD detectors, each with optimum measurement ranges, allow precise broadband measurements from the ultraviolet to the near-infrared range. This corresponds to a wavelength range from 150 to 1050 nm. Electrothermal and adaptable detector cooling minimizes the influence of temperature on the measurement signal. The range of applications of the spectrometer is extended with the aid of various modules that are attached to the spectrometer. One example of this is the use of optical fibers, which are advantageous in various experimental setups for plasma or flame analysis. In addition to the selection of several gratings, the spectrometer's operating software also enables, for example, the adjustment of the light entry aperture, exposure time, focus optimization and dynamic or static recording modes. Furthermore, the spectrometer can be coupled with other measuring devices via external or internal trigger signals.
