Phased array testing technology is primarily used for weld seam testing. The probability of detection (PoD) of surface and volume defects can be significantly increased by the flexible adjustment of the sound field. Particularly in the case of complex or poorly accessible structures, a large inspection volume can be detected by the angle control with the same probe position compared to conventional ultrasonic technology. The existing ISONIC 2010 ultrasonic inspection system has 32:32 phased array electronics. In addition, two identical 5MHz 16:16 phased array probes are available. Phased array, TOFD and conventional ultrasonic testing can be carried out. Further features of the are the true-to-location reflector display in the dimensions of the test specimen, raw data storage, coupling control, high pulse voltages of 50-300 V pp, DAC and TCG/ACG.
