Thermal analysis
The TA 110 thermal analysis records the temperature of the melt during the solidification process. The temperature curve is used to calculate the quality of e.g. aluminum-silicon melts with regard to refinement and grain refinement. A degree of refinement and grain refinement is determined and shown on the display so that the melt can be treated again before casting if necessary.

Components of the system
- Vacuum density device 3VT (MK Industrievertretungen GmbH)
- Electronic density index scale MK 2200 (MK Industrievertretungen GmbH)
- Thermal analysis TA 110 (MK Industrievertretungen GmbH)
The device consists of several components. Melt is poured into the vacuum density tester 3VT in a crucible coated with copper paste both under vacuum (80 mbar) and under normal atmosphere. The densities of both melt samples are measured in the electronic density index balance MK 2200 and the density index is automatically calculated from this according to Archimedes' principle. The density index allows conclusions to be drawn about the porosity of the sample.
In addition, the TA 110 thermal analysis can be used to record the temperature of the melt during the solidification process. The quality of Al-Si melts, for example, is monitored with regard to refinement and grain refinement. A degree of refinement and grain refinement is determined and shown on the display.
