Thermal diffusivity meter
The LFA 447 measuring device from Netzsch can be used to determine the thermal diffusivity of material samples up to 300 °C and compare it with a reference. In addition to the direct measurement of important thermophysical properties of monolithic materials, this measuring method can therefore also be used to inversely determine the thermal resistance of the joining zone of composite materials.

Description of the system
The device is used to measure the thermal diffusivity of metals, ceramics or composite materials from room temperature to 300 °C. The measurement is carried out by generating a short heating pulse on the underside of the sample using a xenon flash lamp. The temperature rise on the top of the sample is measured using an infrared detector. A comparison method can also be used to determine the specific heat capacity and calculate the thermal conductivity with a known density.
Technical data:
- Specimen dimensions: Square/round with edge length/diameter 12.7 mm or 10 mm (thickness depending on material)
- Measuring range: RT to 300 °C
- Specimen holder: 4-fold specimen changer
- Control, monitoring and evaluation of the tests via measuring PC
